At Mason Dental Care, we care about your kids! Dr Dan Hillis knows how important prevention is in giving your child the best future towards a healthy, vibrant smile. Research has shown that once a tooth has a cavity (decay), that individual will spend over $1000 on that tooth in their life time. So the best care is preventative care! With that in mind, Dr Dan Hillis has come up with a program designed to help keep the smiles of our children incredible!
The Pediatric Promise Program includes:
1. PROTECT
At Mason Dental Care, we firmly believe that protecting your child's teeth goes beyond exams and cleanings! Dr Dan Hillis will always recommend flouride and sealants to strengthen and protect your child's teeth. Research has shown that flouride hardens enamel and decreases the likelihood of cavities (decay). Sealants help to seal out harmful bacteria and plaque from the deep pits and grooves of teeth. What makes us unique? When we place sealants, we guarantee them for life! If a sealant ever becomes loose or chipped, Dr Dan Hillis will replace it at no charge. For flouride, we know that not all flavors are created equal! We offer many flavors to appeal to your child.
2. PREVENT
Preventing problems is the key to great experiences! With that in mind, we believe prevention is a team effort! With the help of parents, we can teach a child lifelong healthy habits. Education in our office is thorough. We pay particular attention to the role of sugar in their diets, brushing and flossing techniques, and the importance of regular cleanings and exams. We encourage questions!
What makes us unique? When we clean your child's teeth, we don't just "brush the teeth". Our experienced and gentle hygiene team thoroughly clean above and below the gums, apply flouride, and take necessary xrays. Dr Hillis then performs a thorough oral exam including a cancer screening and examines your child's "bite" for possible orthodontic intervention.
3. POSITIVE EXPERIENCE
This is the key element! Dr Dan Hillis believes that your child's dental experiences early in life determine how they will approach dental care as an adult. We are aware that many adults have fear or anxiety related to dental care that began when they were young. As a result, we are sensitive to the experience your child has while in our office.
What makes us unique? At Mason Dental Care, we take pride in offering our little patients great first time experiences! Depending on the age of your child we may use several techniques to make your child comfortable. Small children are encouraged to sit on mom or dad's lap, sunglasses are given if the dental light seems "too bright" or we offer our office mascot, 'Chocolate Moose', to be held during their appointment. For those with existing dental anxiety from previous experiences in other offices, Dr Dan Hillis can offer sedation dentistry in many forms. Whether by gas, pill, or IV, all options will be discussed with a parent and your child's health history reviewed to ensure a safe and positive experience. Dr Dan Hillis completed his sedation residency at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio and is licensed by the state of Ohio.
